Gardening Tips for June

June is a vibrant month for gardening, as the warmer weather promotes growth and blooming. Here are some essential tips to help you make the most of your garden this month:

  • Cut down flowering stalks that appear on rhubarb plants.

  • Lavender prefers relatively infertile, well-drained soil.

  • Container plants placed outdoors dry out much faster. Check for water more often.

  • Withhold lawn irrigation until the first signs of stress to save water and toughen the grass.

  • Roses do not release fragrance on windy or rainy days.

  • Use salt marsh hay or processed straw/hay to suppress weeds in the vegetable garden
